Quality Healthcare in India is rare. According to one survey, India accounts for 40% of all unsafe procedures. There are only 34 JCI accredited hospitals all over India. Also, there are almost 350 accredited NABH hospitals in India. Quality healthcare comes at a cost. But this cost can be minimized by means of operational efficiency. The out of pocket expenditure of the patients can also be minimized by means of Insurance. People should be made aware of private Insurance. Also, the cost of Insurance can be brought down as there will be more subscriptions. In this way, we will be able to deliver good quality healthcare at a lower cost for the public.
Healthcare expenditure must rise in India
India spends a mere 3.6 percent of the total expenditure on healthcare. The expenditure of public money on healthcare is a mere 25%. India spends the least among the BRICS nations. The BRICS nations comprise the countries like Brazil (9.2%), Russia (5.3%), India, China (5%) and South Africa (8.1%). India has to overcome the present condition. It requires to have more number of beds along with Doctors and Nurses. And overall the GDP spending on healthcare should rise.
“The practice of medicine is an art, not a trade; a calling, not a business; a calling in which your heart will be exercised equally with your head. Often the best part of your work will have nothing to do with potions and powders, but with the exercise of an influence of the strong upon the weak, of the righteous upon the wicked, of the wise upon the foolish.
